The Doyle Report is a weekly e-newsletter at the cross roads of education improvement and the technology revolution. The Doyle Report is published by SchoolNet, the nation's leading Instructional Management Solutions (IMS) provider, co-founded by Denis P. Doyle and Jonathan D. Harber.
TDR offers seven distinct features:
- Viewpoint - A weekly opinion piece education events and issues by Denis P. Doyle (or guest)
- Suggested Reading - A library of education classics, reports, web sites and current readings that TDR recommends
- Spotlight - A weekly perspective on education news and culture from a technology and policy perspective
- Educators@Work - Profiles and interviews with successful educators and policy makers
- Week in Review - A synopsis with links to the week's top education news stories
- Technology Today - The week's most interesting technology stories
- Trendlines - A collection of articles and stories that reveal changes in public education over time
TDR promises to be to-the-point and entertaining, abjuring jargon and blind advocacy. With that in mind, let's also keep Mark Twain's words in mind,
"Let us have more humor in our education. Children love fun. Something is seriously the matter with those who do not laugh at their teachers at least once in a while. The most sensible course is to see the funny side and laugh with them. If children get no opportunities for healthy sport, they will turn to horse-play, rough-house and mean practical jokes. So if the fondness for humor is not nourished on hearty and worthwhile jollity, it will feed on fun that is poor, cheap and degrading." (New York Times, April 6, 1925).
